25th March 2020 : Welcome to Tokyo

Meet our representative at the Tokyo International Airport and transfer to the hotel for check-in. Tokyo’s modern façade has a heart replete with natural beauty – from treelined streets to classic Japanese gardens. These will make for the perfect setting to begin our Sakura season. 26th March 2020: Exploring Tokyo

Spend the day getting acquainted with the beautiful city of Tokyo. Your walk will take you to some of the most scenic spots for photography in the city, such as the Imperial Palace East Garden and Nijubashi Bridge. Soak in Edo culture at the Sensoji Temple on the famous Nakamise Dori street. Get a taste of NYC at the Odaiba Statue of Liberty replica and a whiff of Paris at the Eiffel Tower inspired Tokyo Tower. You will also visit the Toyota Mega Web – a must for auto-enthusiasts! And then take your aesthetic pleasures even further inside the dreamy, “borderless” world of art by teamLab Borderless – billed as the world’s first digital art museum and Tokyo’s official riot of colours! In the evening, we will go bar hopping at the Shinjuku entertainment district. 27th March 2020 : Full Bloom Tokyo

Start your day with an early morning Sumo Wrestling experience – an unforgettable spectacle of Japan’s national sport. Visit the Ashikaga Flower Park, known for its pale red Wisteria blossoms. After lunch, experience the magic of Chery Blossoms at Tokyo’s largest and most popular park – Shinjuku Gyoen. Later, you will have some free time to shop and relax at the trendy Ginza district, home to some of the best boutiques, art galleries and entertainment venues in town. Signature Experience: Travel to the edge of Tokyo on a river cruise on the Sumida – a wonderful way to discover the historic city through its waterways. 28th March 2020: Historic Nikko (Tokyo – Nikko – Tokyo)

Head north of Tokyo to the natural sanctuary of Nikko, home to stunning shrines from the Edo period (1603-1868). Here, you will find history and natural beauty intermingling seamlessly. Visit the scenic Lake Chuzenji – over 20,000 years old. And the 17th century Toshogu shrine, resting place of the most famous Samurai leader Tokugawa Ieyasu. Return to Tokyo by dusk. 29th March 2020: Fuji First (Tokyo – Hakone)

After breakfast, journey to your next destination – Hakone, a scenic retreat about an hours’ drive from Tokyo. On route, you will catch stunning views of Mt Fuji from the Mishima Skywalk pedestrian bridge, the perfect viewing spot for the majestic mountain. Then take a cruise on the crystal-clear waters of Lake Ashi (weather permitting). End the day at your plush hot spring hotel in Hakone. Signature Experience: We will make a pitstop at Oshino Hakkai – a set of spring water ponds fed by the melting snow of nearby Mt Fuji in the picturesque Fuji Five Lake district. These waters are considered sacred by the locals and you can even drink straight from the source next to one of the ponds! 30th March 2020: Hot Spring Soak (Yunessen Spa, Hakone)

Today, you get to savour the natural hot springs that Hakone is known for at the Yunessen Spa, which offers everything from open-air Japanese baths to beautifying baths containing wine, coffee and sake. After lunch, head to the Open Air Museum in Hakone, where the beauty of abstract art and sculptures comes alive amidst the scenic backdrop of the hills. Signature Experience: Spend the day soaking in the thermal baths of Yunessen. There are 23 unique varieties to choose from! Try a luxurious wine soak or travel into the mysterious hot spring caves. 31st March 2020: Historic Detour (Hakone – Hiroshima)

After breakfast, check out and head to Odawara station to board the bullet train to Hiroshima (your luggage will be sent in advance via courier). We take a step back into Japan’s history today with a visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum as well as the Atomic Bomb Dome. The park not only offers a beautiful message of peace but is also full of cherry blooms. If you are lucky, you might find locals here holding a Hanami – a festive cherry blossom viewing and picnic. Later, spend some time feeling the pulse of modern Hiroshima at the Hondori Shopping Arcade – a covered walkway full of shops selling curios, clothes, jewellery, games and souvenirs. 1st April 2020 : Ancient Island (Hiroshima – Miyajima – Osaka)

The cherry blossoms will be in full bloom in this region by now. We will take a ferry to the small island of Miyajima today, less than an hour from the city, known for its ancient forests and temples. As you stroll around the cherry blossom covered island, catch glimpses of its historic sites such as the beautiful, centuries-old Itsukushima Shrine floating on water. After lunch, you will be dropped off at the Hiroshima station for the bullet train to your next destination – Osaka. Spend the evening strolling around the popular Shinsaibashi street. 2nd April 2020: Day Trip (Osaka – Kyoto – Nara – Osaka)

After breakfast, step out for a day trip to the cities of Kyoto and Nara. You will spend the first half of your day in Kyoto, experiencing the Zen beauty of Arashiyama and Sagano. Walk through scenic bamboo woods and across the 17th-century Togetsukyo bridge. Then visit one of Japan’s most popular sights – the historic Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) Temple. Next, head to the 8th-century capital of Japan, Nara – one of the top places to see cherry blossoms with over 1700 cherry trees solely inside the sprawling Nara Park. Stroll through the park to the world-famous Todaiji shrine – one of the most significant Buddhist temples of Japan. Signature Experience: Enjoy a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony at the birthplace of this calming ritual – Kyoto. Drinking a cup of tea is a spiritual exercise in Buddhism, one that contains many layers of philosophical beliefs. Amongst these is the concept of Wabi Sabi, centred on the imperfection and transience of life – a metaphor that also finds expression in the temporary blooming of the cherry blossoms. 3rd April 2020 : Osaka Full Bloom

Experience the Sakura magic of Osaka today as we visit the Osaka Castle and Nishinomaru Garden, home to 600 cherry trees. The lush park offers stunning views of the Osaka castle – its white stone walls framed against the fuchsia cherry blooms. For a breath-taking view of the city, we will visit the Umeda Sky Building next. Its Floating Garden Observatory, 170 meters above ground, offers 360-degree views of the city from an open-air deck. Think fresh air and cherry blossoms as far as the eye can see! Signature Experience: Take a ride on one of the largest Ferris wheels in the world – Tempozan Ferris Wheel. See the sky exploding with colours as the sun sets on Osaka and you make this 15-minute discovery of the city and the surrounding region – from Mount Ikoma to the east to the Rokko mountains in the north.
