The Journey

1

Welcome to Cyprus (Limassol)

Arrive at the Larnaca or Paphos International Airport, where our English-speaking representative will meet and escort you to the hotel for check-in. Drive down to your hotel in Limassol, the island’s second largest city and commercial hub. Known for its wine and sugar cane since the middle ages, the town is today a bustling mix of fine restaurants, beachside bars, open promenades and trendy shopping. After check-in, you have the rest of the day to relax or explore the surrounding area.
2

Back in Time (Limassol – Omodos – Limassol)

After breakfast, head out for a private excursion of the city. We begin at the medieval castle that lies at the heart of the town, surrounded by winding streets full of local shopping and roadside cafes. A short walk away is the Limassol harbour and marina, with a range of upscale restaurants and bars. Drive down to the Castle of Kolossi, a fine example of military architecture, originally constructed in the 13th century during the crusades. And travel back in time to the ancient kingdom of Kourion on the outskirts of the city. One of the most powerful kingdoms from Cyprus’ antiquity, Kourion’s well-preserved ruins offer a glimpse into the late Roman and early Byzantine era. End your day at the picturesque Omodos Village, where we will stop for lunch at a traditional tavern. Visit the Timios Stavros monastery, known for its excellent woodcarvings. And taste local wine at a medieval “lino” or wine press. Take the rest of the day to explore the village at your own pace. You can sit down for a cup of coffee in the village square or pick up some Cypriot items for souvenirs, including lace, homemade wine and sweets.
3

For the Love of Aphrodite (Limassol – Paphos – Limassol)

Step out for a full-day exploration of Paphos, with your English-speaking guide. This historic Mediterranean town is said to be where Aphrodite landed after she rose from the sea. The goddess of beauty can still be felt across Paphos in its unique charm, that comes alive in the city’s historic ruins and magical coastline. On route, we will visit the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, Petra tou Romiou. Then, drive down to the Tombs of the Kings – a large necropolis north of the Paphos harbour. These are early-Hellenistic burial caves carved into the hills and decorated with Doric columns. Continue to the 13th-century Church of Panayia. Within its compounds, you will see St. Paul’s Pillar, where according to legend the saint was flogged before the Roman governor converted to Christianity. For lunch, enjoy delectable seafood by the coast, at one of the best restaurants in the city. Later, explore the popular Roman mosaics of Paphos, depicting fascinating patterns and Greek mythology. Return to Limassol for dinner and overnight stay.
4

A Date with Poseidon (Limassol)

Cypriot Life (Limassol – Nicosia – Limassol)

After breakfast, step out for a full-day exploration of Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus and an ancient city with a rich history that can be traced to the Bronze age. At the heart of the city, enclosed by 16th-century Venetian walls, lie Nicosia’s historic roots filled with ancient churches, medieval buildings and museums. The Famagusta Gate protects the ancient town within from the modern city without. Walk through to the beautiful ruins inside. Learn about the area’s antiquity at the Archaeological Museum and walk down to the Cathedral of St John the Evangelist, covered in wall paintings depicting scenes from the Bible. End with lunch at a traditional tavern in “Laiki Geitonia” – a traditional Cypriot neighbourhood with colourful streets and shops. Spend some time at Ledra Street, the shopping hub of Nicosia, before we leave for Limassol.
